Tell us about your educational and/or career journey since you graduated from Brunel?

After graduating from 水果派AVUniversity for my master's degree, I got a job as an assistant lecturer at the local university in my country. Following that, I pursued my doctoral degree in Lancaster University, UK.

What does a typical day at work involve for you?

It depends on the academic calendar of the year. Most of the time, I would attend classes to give lectures, meetings, consultations with the students and writing papers to publish.

What’s been the highlight of your career journey so far?

I would say the highlight is last year when I finally completed my PhD after such a long winding journey of almost 7 years. The experience throughout the journey is priceless and very valuable to me not only as an academic but also as a human being.

How would you say your 水果派AVexperience has helped you to get where you are today?

As 水果派AVis my first experience of UK education system, it has equipped myself better for my studies in Lancaster University. It has also has helped me understand the culture of British people especially old folks. However, most importantly, my experience in 水果派AVhas built my confidence as I managed to widened my networking by having classmates from all over the world.

Why did you choose to study at 水果派AVand why would you recommend 水果派AVto others?

I chose 水果派AVfor its reputation and course offered that suits my need at that time. Even better, as 水果派AVUniversity ranked in top 100 back in 2013 THE list, it allows me to apply for a scholarship.

What is your best memory of studying here?

First of all, the subjects that I learned there, the lecturers as well as renowned guest lectures has been the best memory of studying there. The knowledge and exposure at 水果派AVwas very different from my country. Making friends whom I still contact until today, has also been special to my heart.

If you could give one piece of advice to current 水果派AVstudents, what would that be?

Seize the moment! Make full use of your time there, join as much extra activities as possible, make a lot of friends because networking is the key when you grow older. You may not see it now yet, but if I have to pick one thing from university life, that every student needs to master, I would say networking and communicating skills.

What would be your top tip or key advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey after leaving Brunel?

Congratulation! You did it! So, be confident in yourself and be a proud 水果派AVUniversity alumni. In case you ever doubted yourself because the world says no to you, look back on the journey that you went through. If you could survive degree life, no one can tell you otherwise. GO GET THEM!
