Buckinghamshire Mind is an independent mental health charity providing services in Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire. The organisation is a member of the National Association for Mental Health (MIND), and part of a network of over 100 organisations that adhere to the quality standards of governance, service delivery of Mind and provide trusted mental health services to their communities.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will provide social support, companionship, and friendship to individuals who may be experiencing loneliness and isolation, or are in need of emotional support. As Volunteer Befriender, you will learn empathy and compassion, develop your listening skills, and will build a good relationship with clients.
Typical duties include:
- Visiting befriending partners on a regular basis
- Spending time with the befriending partner to provide companionship
- Listening and understanding their feelings and thoughts
- Participating in shared activities or hobbies that the befriending partners enjoy
Please note, this role require a DBS check and the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months
